Bungie Says Halo: Reach 'Not' A Project Natal Game

It remains to be seen how much Microsoft pushes Project Natal with its existing game franchises like Halo and Gears of War. Bungie has expressed interest in examining Project Natal's technology for inclusion in any future releases, but the company issued a seemingly conclusive response Friday to the question of Project Natal in Halo: Reach. The answer is no.

"Truth: Halo: Reach is NOT a Natal title," said Bungie in the studio's most recent weekly update, "and is being developed expressly with the traditional Xbox 360 controller in mind."

The possibility of Project Natal support was raised after a screen shot from Halo: Reach was released with a bizarrely placed cross-hair. Bungie claims it was the result of a known glitch.

"You won't be perpetually leaning to the left nor will you be navigating multiple cross-hairs for various purposes," said Bungie. "Truth be told, it's just a good ole fashioned bug. Bug #15163 to be exact."

There's no reason Halo: Reach couldn't include some base level of Project Natal integration (navigating the interface, for example), but release dates for both Halo: Reach and Project Natal are unknown. If Halo: Reach is released fairly close to Project Natal, who knows?

Rumor: Zac Efron The New Spider-Man?

The UK's OK Magazine is reporting that High School Musical star, Zac Effron will be donning the striped-red jumpsuit as the new Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot effort.

Speculation was sure to begin following the recent scrapping of the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire team and the appointment of Marc Webb to the director's chair. So, if this news does indeed hold water, how did this event come to be? Let's get it straight from the horse's mouth:

"HIGH School Musical heartthrob Zac Efron is set for a £9million pay day as he takes on the role of SpiderMan. Zac Efron will replace Tobey Maguire in the fourth blockbuster movie, due to start shooting later this year and scheduled to hit cinemas in 2012. Tobey, 34, stunned bosses at Universal Pictures last year when he announced he was quitting the megabucks franchise. But a studio insider revealed: "After dumping Spidey, Tobey then came to the rescue by recommending that Zac should take over his role." Producers believe the 22-year-old, who has a huge teen following, will bring new fans to the Spider-Man series by playing the reluctant hero and his alter ego Peter Parker. They are also believed to be considering reuniting Zac with his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, 21. She is hotly tipped to replace Kirsten Dunst, 27, as Spider-Man's love interest and the source added: "It would be a great coup to land her as well. "The franchise would be revitalised and transformed by two of Hollywood's most gifted and fast-rising young stars."

...Oh, where to begin?

Well, gee, I was under the impression that the move to reboot the Spider-Man franchise came about as a result of Sony's inability to work with Sam Raimi on what was an obviously expendable fourth film. Sure, the exact details on those differences have never been officially released, but they would have you think that Tobey Maguire just walked into the offices one day and dropped a big "I quit" bomb that left the studio scrambling. I hardly claim to be an insider in any way, but this one is making a lot of peoples' BS detectors beep like hell.

Also, the language that's being used sound uninformed. For example: "Zac Efron will replace Tobey Maguire" and Vanessa Hudgens "hotly tipped to replace Kirsten Dunst" makes it seem as if they're unaware that this will be a complete franchise REBOOT. That would be like saying Christian Bale "replaced" George Clooney as Batman.

Personally, I'm hoping that the talk of Michael Cera possibly taking the role pans out. He might provide a nice change of pace that Efron (for whatever appeal he may bring to certain demographics and the box-office numbers) could not. While Tobey Maguire could pull off the "geek" look at times, Cera not only has the look, but can carry an indescribable level of social awkwardness that would be perfect for the role.

A.I.M. is an action role-playing game unfolding in a sci-fi universe inhabited by androids. Humans are but a vague memory in a world where robots rule. Players assume role of an AI android traveling on a special floating vehicle with antigravity engines. Gliders are multipurpose combat vehicles, and the huge military zone was created to test them. Avatar: The Game lấy bối cảnh một tương lai xa, khi khoa học kĩ thuật của con người đã phát triển đủ để du hành trong vũ trụ. Họ phát hiện ra một hành tinh và đặt cho nó cái tên Pandora, một "thiên đường nhiệt đới" tràn ngập màu xanh của cây lá và những loài sinh vật lạ. Loài người muốn khai thác tiềm năng khoáng sản của hành tinh này, nhưng tộc Na'vi, những cư dân bản địa lại không muốn thế. Và chiến tranh nổ ra, giữa một bên là những cỗ máy chiến tranh và binh sĩ của loài người, còn bên kia là những chiến binh Na'vi với sự trợ giúp của thiên nhiên.

Điều đầu tiên gây ấn tượng với người chơi trong bản chơi thử (demo) hơn 1,5GB này là chất lượng đồ họa của game. Bao phủ bề mặt Pandora là một khu rừng xanh mướt với vô số loại thực vật và động vật kì lạ lấy cảm hứng từ những loài có thật trên trái đất. Mặc dù nền đồ họa không bằng Crysis nhưng những gì mà đồ họa của game mang lại đã có thể làm hài lòng người chơi. Và điều này cũng có nghĩa là game đòi hỏi một cấu hình máy kha khá để có thể thưởng thức game ở chất lượng cao nhất.

Pandora là một hành tinh xanh, nhưng đừng để màu xanh đó đánh lừa bạn, bởi nơi đây đầy rẫy hiểm nguy đến từ những loài cây độc, những con thú ăn thịt từ nhỏ bé đến khổng lồ. Bản demo cho game thủ vào vai một binh sĩ loài người, được cung cấp các loại súng đạn, túi cứu thương cũng như bốn kĩ năng gồm tàng hình, gọi yểm trợ bằng bom, lựu đạn sóng âm và hồi phục máu để tự vệ. Trong quá trình chiến đấu, nhân vật sẽ đạt điểm kinh nghiệm và tăng cấp, mở khóa những lựa chọn nâng cấp cho vũ khí. Các phương tiện cơ giới điều khiển được trong bản demo này bao gồm chiếc trực thăng chiến đấu và con "mech" trang bị súng máy hạng nặng.

Qua bản demo, Avatar: The Game tỏ ra là một game có lối chơi rất tuyến tính. Người chơi chỉ việc thẳng tiến và bắn hạ mọi thứ trên đường đi. Đáng tiếc là AI của đồng đội trong game khá kém, một số tay lính thích "đâm đầu vào tường" hơn là di chuyển theo người chơi để hỗ trợ chiến đấu. Một điểm vô lý nữa là các con boss trong game luôn tập trung tấn công người chơi, bất kể quanh bạn có bao nhiêu đồng đội thì chúng cũng "không thèm" quan tâm, dẫn đến độ khó của game tăng lên một cách vô lý. Góc nhìn camera của game được đặt khá sát vào nhân vật và xoay chuyển chậm, dẫn đến việc khi đối thủ ở trên cao thì việc xác định vị trí của chúng rất khó khăn. Mặc dù game có hỗ trợ khả năng quay về sau lưng (chuột phải) cùng tính năng tự động bắt mục tiêu nhưng cũng không hỗ trợ được gì nhiều trong trận chiến.* Video giới thiệu hình ảnh, giao diện điều khiển.

Bản demo không cho phép người chơi tham gia vào chế độ chơi mạng, nên chưa thể nói được gì về phần chơi này. Tuy nhiên, qua những gì đã thấy, Avatar: The Game tỏ ra chỉ là một game "thường thường bậc trung" với điểm nổi bật duy nhất là đồ họa, nên người chơi không nên quá trông đợi vào sự thành công của game này.
